In this section you will find useful information and answers to Frequently Asked Questions related to downloading the Entropia Universe Software Client.

I experience problems while downloading the installer.

1. Please ensure that you have sufficient access rights to the computer you are using. If you are not a Power User, either log in as administrator or ask the person responsible for your computer to do it for you.


2. Make sure that you have opened the ports 20, 21 (TCP Outbound) - Additional TCP port outbound for passive mode FTP.


3. If you are using a public computer in a school or at a company, please make sure that firewalls and routers are correctly configured.

I receive an NSIS ERROR message while downloading the Entropia Universe.

The file you have downloaded is either corrupt or you have an existing installation which is corrupt. Please try the following:

• Disable antivirus software.
• Disable download accelerators.
• Remove any existing installation files and try again.

While trying to download, I receive the message could not connect to the FTP server.

It could be that you are trying to start the Entropia Universe from an older version of the installer. Delete all existing Entropia Universe files via 'add/remove programs' in the control panel and download a fresh Entropia Universe installer from www.entropiauniverse.com.

When I start downloading the Entropia Universe client, the download is interrupted.

Please start Entropia Universe again. Generally it will resume the download from where it was interrupted. If not, please check the list below:

1. Do you have a firewall?
   Please make sure that your firewall is set up to allow for incoming connections on the following Ports:
   • 20, 21 (TCP Outbound) - Additional TCP Port outbound for passive mode FTP
   • 30584 (UDP inbound/outbound)
   
   
2. Do you have a router?
   Please make sure that the router configuration has Ports 20,21 and 30584 forwarded to your computer and that the firmware of your router is up-to-date (please turn to the manufacturer of your router for any specific questions regarding this matter).


3. Do you have enough free memory?
   The Entropia Universe requires at least 512 Mb. However, 768 Mb or 1 GB is recommended.


4. Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive (min 3 GB).


5. If you have an anti-virus program, make sure that the Entropia Universe is an approved application.


6. Have you installed the Entropia Universe before and not properly uninstalled the previous installation?
   If yes, please uninstall all old Entropia Universe files via the control panel, reboot your computer and re-install the Entropia Universe by using a fresh installer from www.entropiauniverse.com


7. Disable any download boosters, such as 'GetRight'


8. Check with your internet service provider how much of your internet service is alocated to FTP-traffic.

The download hangs on downloading the file 'ijl15.dlltmp'.

This file shares functions with other applications such as digital camera drivers. Do you have any digital camera drivers installed on your computer? If so, you could try to uninstall the camera drivers and then try to download the Entropia Universe again.

I experience slow download speed while trying to download the installer.

Since slow download speed can be caused for numerous reasons, we cannot offer a general solution. However, we adivise you to check the following:

1. Please make sure not to run any other bandwidth consuming applications while you are downloading or partaking in the Entropia Universe.


2. Please scan your system for viruses and adware/spyware


3. There might be heavy traffic on the FTP server. Please wait a while and try again later. Generally, the traffic is high shortly after a new release.


4. Your Internet Service Provider might have set limitations on their FTP services. If you still have problems downloading, and you also find other FTP downloading to be slow, our best advice is to contact your internet service provider and check the status on their FTP traffic and whether they have set any limitations in their FTP services. In certain areas in for instance Australia and Asia, this might be the case. These areas also have some international traffic allotted to satellite services. This can contribute to a slower internet connection for some web sites, even though it can work excellent on other web sites, national as well as international.

I have problems downloading from the FTP site. Is there an alternative download site?

Currently there are no alternative download sites for the Entropia Universe. It is not impossible that alternative download mirrors will be set up in the future, but there is no ETA for such a feature yet.

I cannot download The Entropia Universe via FTP. Are there any alternative options?

If you cannot download the installer via FTP, then you will experience problems later since The Entropia Universe Client Software runs on FTP traffic.

I have a wireless router. Can I still download the Entropia Universe?

Since the Entropia Universe is not optimized for wireless solutions, you might experience problems while downloading or participating in the Virtual Universe.

Does the Entropia Universe support Macintosh or Linux?

The Entropia Universe is built on a graphics engine from NDL which currently requires DirectX from Microsoft to run. There are currently no plans to make the Entropia Universe available on other platforms than the Microsoft compatible PC.
